New Delhi (PB): Ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, arrangements are being made to provide MPs with new digital facilities, the most notable of which is a newly introduced digital attendance system. This system will be implemented from the very first day of the Monsoon Session.
With the goal of fostering a digitally empowered working environment for Members of Parliament, multimedia conferencing devices (MMDs) have been installed at each seat within the Lok Sabha chamber. To save both resources and time, a new feature has been introduced whereby MPs will now be able to mark their attendance directly from the MMDs at their respective seats. This is expected to save MPs valuable time each day.
Additionally, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has begun publishing Parliament’s daily agenda documents in 12 languages—Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, and Telugu—with the help of AI-powered tools. These documents are made available in real-time on the Digital Sansad portal.
In a further technological advancement, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has developed an AI-driven verbatim transcription tool for recording parliamentary proceedings. From the next session onwards, this AI-powered transcription system will operate alongside traditional verbatim reporting, allowing proceedings to be recorded more accurately, swiftly, and with multilingual support.
