Pithoragarh (PB): A major accident occurred in the Muwani area of Pithoragarh district, where a Max vehicle plunged into a deep gorge and fell into the river. Eight people lost their lives in the incident. Three others were injured and are reported to be in critical condition. The injured have been admitted to the district hospital. The accident took place on the Thal-Pithoragarh road. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and has directed the administration to expedite rescue and relief operations.
As soon as the authorities were informed, teams from the Revenue and Disaster Management Department reached the spot and immediately sent the injured to the hospital. The impact of the accident was so severe that the vehicle was completely destroyed. Relief and rescue efforts by the administration are ongoing at full speed. This incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire region. At the time of reporting, the identities of the deceased had not yet been made public. According to the police, efforts are underway to identify the bodies and inform the families. Women and children may also be among the dead, though this has not been officially confirmed.
