Driven by the Desire for Fame and Money, They Took This Step; Cameraman Friend Also Nabbed
Sambhal (PB): The craze among youngsters to earn money through social media has reached such extremes that they are ready to go to any lengths. In Sambhal, uttar pradesh three young women misused a social media platform in just such a way. Teaming up with their friend, who worked as a cameraman, they recorded and posted videos filled with abusive language on social media. The police have now arrested all four of them.
In today’s era of social media, the obsession with gaining recognition through reels has gripped people of all ages. While some are creating travel reels, others focus on food content. Some pursue dangerous stunts, while others turn their comedy acts into short clips. However, these girls from Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal took things to an entirely different—and inappropriate—level. In a bid to gain followers and make money, they turned reels into a crude display that not only misused freedom of expression but also trampled social boundaries.
Once the matter reached the police, swift action was taken. Accused of spreading obscenity on social media, the three girls, along with their cameraman, were taken into custody. However, after admitting their fault, they were granted bail by the court. Notably, the police have filed charges under Section 296(b) and the IT Act. These charges carry a potential sentence of up to three years in prison. Following the exposure of this case, a wider debate has been sparked over controlling obscene content on social media platforms.
