Chief Minister Issues Instructions to Officials During Transport Department Review
150 Electric Vehicles to Operate Under E-Bus Service
Dehradun : Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during a review of the Transport Department at the Secretariat, instructed officials to promptly initiate the Pradhan Mantri E-Bus Seva Yojana. He also emphasized the need to complete the establishment of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the state in a timely manner. The CM directed that the process of implementing a green cess on vehicles entering from other states be expedited, and ongoing construction work at bus terminals be completed within set deadlines.
The Chief Minister also directed that charging stations be established near bus stands, parking areas, government buildings and guest houses, and petrol pumps, so that vehicle users can access charging facilities easily. He stressed the importance of focusing on increasing the revenue of the State Transport Corporation.
On this occasion, Reena Joshi, Managing Director of the Transport Corporation, informed that the PM E-Bus Service Scheme will be launched in Dehradun and Haridwar, under which 150 electric buses will be operated. The primary goal of the scheme is to provide citizens with convenient, accessible, and environmentally friendly transportation. The scheme is expected to create around 750 new job opportunities. She added that the state government is laying special emphasis on developing EV charging infrastructure to promote the use of electric vehicles and reduce air pollution. In the first phase of the scheme, EV charging stations have been set up at 28 locations.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman of the Infrastructure Monitoring Council Mr. Vishwas Dabur, Chief Secretary Mr. Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretaries Mr. R.K. Sudhanshu and Mr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram, and officials from the Transport Department.
